Fine Art Projetc:Trapped

30 Oct

We were given a word and when had to develop it for the projetc. The given word was change and I developed it into metamorphosis. With this theme I was quite free to do whatever I wanted, as well as the choice of media. So the first thing which came to my mind was a fox transforming into a tree. Of course I sketched other ideas, but this one kept running into my mind and, in the end, I knew I had to work on it.

I really wanted to give sculpture a chance, because i had never done a “serious” one and it looked funny. It took me ages (two days) and this was the result:

As one of the teachers made me notice, the fox seemed trapped into the tree. I was a bit upset at the beginning because this wasn’t the result i wanted to achieve, but, in the end, i liked the idea. So you may think of it as a fox trapped into a tree because of a curse which was meant to punish the fox for some sin.

Just, don’t take me bad. I love foxes and will always support them!

Massimo Caccia

29 Oct

Massimo caccia is an italian painter who recently met the interest of the public with his simple but effective style. He illustrate books for children but he’s more a fine artist than an illustrator.

Two years ago I had the opportunity to see a small exhibition/sell of his works, called Equilibrium. Here is an example:

In all this theme’s paintings, the author tries to capture the moment before something will happen. In this case, he framed the glass containing the gold fish right before this will fall down and break out in pieces.

I like his style, because it’s very effective, and also because all his painting seems static to you untill you understand there’s movement in them.

I highly suggest you to have a look at his website, because you’ll find lots of great work!
